Author Bio:

Laura Giannetti is an Associate Professor of Italian at the University of Miami. She has published articles in MLN, Sixteenth Century Journal and Quaderni d’Italianistica on representations of gender, sexuality and play as well as Five Comedies from the Italian Renaissance (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2003), five comedies newly translated and edited with Guido Ruggiero. Her first book Lelia’s Kiss: Imagining Gender, Sex and Marriage in Italian Renaissance Comedy was published with University of Toronto Press (November 2009). As the Lila Wallace - Reader’s Digest Fellow at Villa I Tatti (the Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies in Florence) she spent the academic year 2008-2009 working on her new book-project tentatively titled: Food Culture and the Literary Imagination in Renaissance Italy.
