You wake up to beeping from the ship's computer, reading off an error. It may be important to run the [[system check|check]]; however, there are always problems with the ship, and looking at it with a little bit more [[sleep]] may help solve it. You are just on a boring survey mission, so there is a slight chance that any significant malfunctions are going on with the ship.

(else: )[You see an error on the screen with an option to run another [[quick scan]]. ]
You sleep for another hour and dream about going on a big space mission to explore a new planet with an actual crew. But you are awoken by a shake as the ship seems to be in serious trouble. Do you rush out of bed to [[check out]] the problem or [[disregard it and finish your dream.|sleep it away]]
(set: $Sleep to true)It seems the ship is starting to shut down, so you run a quick scan on the problems and see the ship's power is low. You know there's a backup generator on the safety pods. However, there's no time. You instead rush to the [[power room]] to see if you can see a problem with the main generator and fix it.You look at the computer screen to see the system is showing multiple errors.

With all of these errors showing up so suddenly, you come to the terrifying realization that you are living a space pilot's worst dream. You are stuck inside [[The Void]].The system is showing you that your path is off track! You reboot the [[corrdniate system]], hoping it will fix itself. You run into the power room to find the generator smoking. You look at the locker and enter the combination to unlock it. Tired, you slowly make your way back to the [[control room.|control room]] ]You enter the control room to see that the computer is still complaining about errors. You decide to run another [[quick scan|quick scan (sleep)]]No Luck!
Resetting the system didn't fix anything. The coordinates are still malfunctioning and errors are showing problems with the [[navigation system]]The quick scan shows the oxygen levels are empty. It also shows that the power of the ship is depleting much faster than intended. You find yourself confused about what is going on. This mission was supposed to be a boring survey mission. Nothing ever happens in these types of missions! In a panic, you start to [[run|shut down]] to a safety pod as you realize time is running out.(css: "color: red; font-size: 200%")[You Died]
You begin to feel pressure on your chest, and it has become increasingly difficult to breathe. You try to take a couple more steps closer to the safety pod but collapse on the ground. If only you had more time to try and understand what is wrong with the ship...You head over to find your computer still showing errors. You decide to [[check]] what errors are displaying. You realize that you must go outside of the ship to realign the navigation panel. You suit up and must choose to either [[spacewalk]], which would be slower and physically taxing or rely on the suit [[thrusters]], which would be faster but riskier. You realize that all of the errors are starting to make sense. You've heard a lot about The Void, but nothing was ever confirmed, as no one has made it out alive. You've heard about a gravitational pull that sucks everything towards the center. Also how power levels deplete faster while stuck inside.
You need to [[figure a way out|figure out]] of The Void before all energy sources are depleted and left for dead. You latch one side of the cord to the ship and the other to your suit. You start to make your way into space when you feel that you are being pulled away from the ship. You quickly grab at the cord and pull yourself back onto the ship.
Finally, you realize that the malfunctions with the system and the gravitational pull are clear signs that you are stuck in [[The Void]].(css: "color: red; font-size: 200%")[You Died]
As you leap out into space, you find yourself pulled away from your ship. You try using your thrusters to propel you back towards the ship, but they are not stronger enough. You find yourself pulled further away into the unknown as your suit runs out of oxygen. After pondering for some time, you come up with two options. You can either [[detach all the safety pods]] or search for [[other escape routes|explore the ship]].
Detaching pods will show the direction of the gravitational pull. And using the knowledge, you can fly the ships away from the center in the opposite direction. However, you realize this option is risky as, without the safety pods, there is nothing that you can use as a backup if the ship malfunctions.
You can also explore the ship and search for other ways to escape, but you will lose valuable time. You go through the ship database and find all the files on what's known about The Void. You see, as nothing in these files are confirmed because no one has ever made it out alive.
You look and see there's a file called "The Center" which interests you. You open it, and it talks about how some rumors say going into the center of The Void is the best way to escape almost certain death. You decide if [[flying into the center|escape]] is the best way out or if you should spend more time [[looking at the other files.|investigate]]You command the ship to release all of the safety pods. And what was any form of insurance has been lost. You then start up the ship's [[engines.|escape]]
(set: $Pods to true)You look further into the database and find a few other topics about The Void.
[[>Background Information|Context]]
[[>The Strength of The Void|strength of The Void]] (if: $Pods is true)[You observe the direction of the safety pod's and steer the ship in the opposite direction. Next, you put max power into your thrusters and start to [[fly.|push on (pods)]]]
(else: )[You've looked at the files, and you're starting to second guess yourself. It's the last chance for you to decide if you want to [[cut the engines]] and let The Void pull you in, or do you max out the thrusters, [[push on]], and try and fly away from The Void's grasps!]
You turn off the engines and focus all of the ship's power into maintaining oxygen levels. You sit and wait as The Void pulls you in towards [[the center]].You are pushing through The Void, but fuel is depleting quickly! It's going to be a very close call. You stick with your plan and push on as far as you can. You keep going, but then you hear your ship's engines start to power down and realize there's no other fuel to propel you the rest of the way. You think that maybe you can make it to a safety pod and use that to fly the rest of the way. As you run towards the safety pods, the entire ship powers down, and you realize you're [[trapped|Lost]] as there's nothing left to operate the door's releasing mechanism. You buckle-in and start to fly out at max speed. Alarms for low power begin to go off, and the whole ship is shaking. You know there is no turning back now, so you push on ahead. As you are pushing forward, you feel a sharp jolt; the ship comes to complete silence, and all panel lights go dark. Moments later, the coordinate system led turns green, the navigation, automatic flight system, and communication systems return to full functionality. Finally, you initiate the [[radio with the mission control.|successful]](css: "color: green; font-size: 200%")[You Escaped]
You tell mission control about everything that had happened with The Void. About how a lot of the suspicions about The Void were real. Including the gravitational pull, the rapid power loss, and coordinate malfunctions. They congratulate you as the first pilot to successfully make it out of The Void and on your quick thinking. They point out how dropping the ships was very smart as it reduced the weight of the ship, allowing you to make it out barely. They ask if you have learned anything new about The Void, but you reply with nothing as escaping as your primary focus.
You go down in history as the first to escape The Void; however, that was the highlight of your space exploration as other pilots were chosen in search of The Void to try and explore and find more about it.(css: "color: red; font-size: 200%")[You Died]
You walk back to your room in defeat, pull out the notepad and pencil left by your bedside, and start writing. You talk about what happened in The Void and confirm all of the rumors, how the gravitational pull and system malfunctions caused by The Void are all accurate. After you finish you go to the main console room and look out the window you look at the infinite galaxy. You are sad to think that you were never able to explore as it was always your dream; you close your eyes as the ship starts to power down. There isn't much background information about The Void because no one has ever escaped from it successfully. Scientists believe that The Void is something that moves about the galaxy because pilots have disappeared, but never in the same location.
Navigation and radio communication are also common things that malfunction while stuck inside The Void.
You can go back to the main screen and [[view other topics|investigate]] on The Void or plan your [[escape]].There is much talk about The Void's pull. Scientists believe that the pull gets stronger the closer you get to the center. They also think that power and oxygen systems drain even faster the closer you get to the center. All of these signs point to avoiding the center, but the control center has found a small radio clip after one pilot disappeared on the ship's streamed data, but the audio was never clear. It continually confuses the scientists because there is no way for a message to get through while inside The Void, why some have rumored the center to be an escape while others view it as a foolish death sentence.

You fall back asleep and continue your dream of being a "real" explorer.
You're venturing to an unknown planet and have two other crew members that are working under your command. As your ship lands, your crew cheers for a successful landing and gear up to go out and explore.
You open the hatch that leads outside and take in the view of the planet you will be first to step foot on. You see, the surface is similar surface gravel however it's a blueish purple tint. You see something that resembles a waterfall in the distance, but the water seems to resemble pure darkness like flowing oil. You're excited and start to make your first step, but just before you do, you notice that you are having a hard time breathing. You look back to your crew for help but find that no one is by your side. You wake up in a panic from the dream grasping at your chest. You find yourself unable to breathe and pass out due to the lack of oxygen.(css: "color: green; font-size: 200%")[You Escaped]
You watch as the ship powers down and is pulled faster towards the center. You feel the gravitational pull getting stronger and the power of the ship fading. Everything starts to go black as your oxygen runs low...
You wake up to bright white light, and slowly things start to come into focus. You realize you are in a hospital. Sitting in front of you is the pilot that had previously been lost in The Void before. He smiles at you and says, "You too, huh?" Seeing your confusion, he explains how he also flew into the center and ended up in the situation you are in right now. He talks about the center of The Void is a wormhole that has launched you into the future. He asks if his message made it back to mission control about the truth of the center, but you tell him that the message was almost inaudible and disregarded. He frowns in disappointment but then offers to take you outside and show you the new world. You accept with thrill as you realize your dream of space exploration had been fulfilled but never in the way you had imagined.(css: "color: red; font-size: 200%")[You Died]
