(set: $success3 to false)You are finally free of your egg prison. Everything is a blur to you as your eyes adjust to this beautiful light. You notice the [[source of that blinding light.]] (if: $first is true)(display: "Next Action") (if: $second is true)(display: "Next Action 2")They ecstatically welcome the three of you to the world and proceed to drop red, wet objects around you. You presume they are your mother and father. They tell you to eat the [[delicious food]].The little morsels of meat are delicious! Your mother explains to you that you are eating mouse. You think to yourself that mice are an exquisite dish as you attempt to consume more mouse meat from your brothers. You squawk in satisfaction and go to [[sleep]].You wake up and notice that your brothers are still sleeping. [[//You peck at them.//->Awake]]
(if: $awake is true)(display: "Next Action 3")After finishing the delicious meal, your parents begin to teach you and your siblings about life. You are an eagle. You learn there are more tasty food other than mice such as smaller birds, rabbits, and fish. You cannot fly until much, much, much later. You cannot leave the nest under any circumstances. You will be taking control of the forest, rivers, lakes, and mountains once you become old enough. The same are expected for your siblings...don't cause trouble in the animal kingdom...stay away from...most dangerous...are you listening?!...[[you fall asleep]].You are now an adolescent eagle. One of your brothers is eager to begin flying, but your parents have warned you to wait a couple more weeks. They are not present at the moment, and your brother is impatient and decides to try on his flying on his own despite you and your other brother's objections. [[He begins to run out of the nest.]] He reaches the edge of the nest and gets on the branch. [[He runs to the end of the branch and jumps.]]You tackle him and try to persuade him to at least wait for your mother or father. He shrugs you off and hops out of the nest on to a branch. [[He runs to the end of the branch and jumps.]]You hear a painful screech of fear as you watch your brother plummet straight down while flapping helplessly. After a few seconds, you hear a sickening thud. Your brother gives you a [[look]] of concern. [[You close your eyes and hope your parents come back soon.]]You step out of the nest and look down while clinging as tightly as possible to the branch. You see a mass of feathers in a puddle of red. [[You return to confirm the tragic news to your remaining brother.->You close your eyes and hope your parents come back soon.]]Your parents return as the sun begins to set. As they got closer, they noticed only two of their children were in the nest and quickened their arrival. You and your brother relate the tragedy to your parents. Your [[mother]] screeches into the blood-red sky as your [[father]] flies down. You and your brother wrap your wings around your crestfallen mother. [[The three of you mourn together.->He begins to create a burial for him.]]As your brother consoles your mother, you hop to the side and watch as your father assess your fallen brother's body. [[He begins to create a burial for him.]]It has been a few weeks since the unfortunate incident. While your father is out hunting, your mother has decided it is finally time for you and your brother to [[learn how to fly and accompany on hunts]].You did not wake up from your egg.You and your brother catch on quick to your mother's teachings. You glide gracefully in the open air while your brother dives and rises consistently. Your mother proudly watches as she soars above, casting a [[shadow]] on the two of you.It is now evening and your father has yet to return. Your mother is worried and tells the both of you to stay in the nest while she goes out [[investigate]] what is the hold up.You go to the main river in your domain. You will be hunting for salmon. You notice two salmon swimming together, a large and small. Since you are bigger, your brother suggests you go for the [[large one]].You and your brother go to a tall grass field to hunt rabbits. The two of you spot your juicy and fat yet nimble targets and go your [[separate]] ways. You and your brother are tasked to hunt down a massive wild aggressive boar that has taken control near the base of a hill and nearby forest line. You devise a plan where [[you]] or your [[brother]] baits the boar into a small hole while the other goes for the kill. After a few weeks, your mother has died of old age. Before she died, she gave her two offspring a few wise words: always be wary of the other eagle who will try to claim your domain and never interact with humans. You and your brother bury her next to your late brother. [[You hope things won't take a turn for the worse.->dominion with your brother]]You and your brother take turns patrolling the massive ecosystem that you call home. You have noticed humans cutting down trees and taking rocks away from the mountain, but you do nothing as per your late mother's words. Soon though, the predatory eagle that plagues your family begins to terrorize the ecosystem leaving dead prey everywhere. You decide to either [[fight]] or [[leave for another ecosystem]].You travel further north where there are less likely to be humans. You happen upon a similar ecosystem as the one you left behind, but it is much colder. However, you have decided this will be your [[new dominion]].You live a rather peaceful and solitary life in this northern cold region. You can only wonder how your brother is currently faring back home with the other nasty eagle. You shake off your thoughts and go back to spying on a white hare darting around trying to find food.As you dive in for the larger salmon, do you dive [[above]] or [[ahead]] of the fish? You try to remember what your mother taught you about water and refraction. You miss your target and nearly drown from diving in too hard. [[//You try again.//->large one]]You successfully snatched the salmon out of the water and [[bring it back->your father's untimely death]] to your nest.
(set: $success1 to true)As you chase your scared prey from above, you attempt to predicts its movements. You notice a lot of twitching in the right hind leg. Do you go [[//straight//->straight]], [[//strafe right//->strafe right]], or [[//strafe left//->strafe left]]?You went straight, but the rabbit changed to the right and got away while you almost crashed headfirst into a rock, but you quickly dodge it and [[continue chasing->separate]].You guessed correctly as both you and your prey turned right. You were able to swoop it up and [[bring it back->your father's untimely death]] to your nest.
(set: $success2 to true)As you turned left, a wolf hiding in the tall grass leaps out and and nearly snatches you out of the air. You calm yourself down from the near death experience and [[continue chasing->separate]].You decided to be the bait for the dangerous boar. You get its attention by annoyingly screeching at it and begin to lead it to the hole. Unfortunately, the boar paid no attention to you. [[Maybe your brother should try?-->brother]]You brother decided to be the bait for the dangerous boar. He get its attention by annoyingly screeching at it and begin to lead it to the hole. As the two of them near the hole, you begin your quick dive with talons ready. Your brother succesfully guides the raging boar into the hole and you sink your talons deep into its neck. The two of you celebrate and consume as much as you can before [[bringing some back->your father's untimely death]] to the nest.
(set: $success3 to true)You decided to stay and fight for your home with your brother. The two of you plan to ambush the wicked eagle. Since you are bigger, you will be hiding while your brother will be [[baiting him towards the massive, unearthed roots]] of the tree that holds your original nest. You have decided to [[settle elsewhere]]. You bid your brother farewell and good luck with your old home.Your brother has successfully baited your adversary into the roots. As he angrily thrashes around, you and your brother tear at his feathers to ground him. You ignore the painful screeches as you continue to strip him of his flight. Do you [[spare him from death]] or [[kill him in his pathetic state right now]]?As you tell your brother to stop tearing out more feathers, your "victim" suddenly breaks free from your talons and the tree's roots, and streaks his talons across your brother's throat. You shriek in rage and [[launch your talons at his throat]].You and your brother slash and peck out your ensnared adversary's throat and breast. You have achieved retribution for your late father's death. The two of you fly to the top of the oak tree just as the sun begins to set. The two of you quietly watch the setting sun turn the clear sky a shade of crimson. As your heartbeats slow down, you make a decision to [[stay]] or [[leave]].As the two of you wrestle and tear at each other, you roll away toward a clearing. You gain leverage against your evil opponent and roll on top with your talons at his throat. You are [[brimming with rage]], but you try reasoning with the concept of [[mercy]] again.Without another thought, you swiftly tighten your grip on his throat and watch your sworn enemy go silent forever. You have won the battle but at what [[cost]]?You unconsciously loosen your grip as you ponder the value of life while [[staring off into the distance]]. For some reason, [[you begin to not feel your foe beneath you]].You bury your fallen brother next to your foolish, late brother and late mother. You pay your respects and fly to the top of your tree. As you flap out the blood in your feathers, your eyes slowly soaks in the sunset of the domain that is yours and only yours now. You let out a long screech of dominant victory. However, a quieter yet curious shriek in the distance summons your immediate attention. As you fly off to investigate, you remind yourself that no matter who you meet, you will not lose the home that you have fought so much for. While you are absentmindedly looking away from your enemy, he takes the chance to wiggle out of your grip and get on top of you. The last thing you see is an evil smirk and bloodly talons closing on your face. You barely got away from the clutches of your enemy as he surprised you while you weren't paying attention. Your left leg paid the price for your hesitation. Your opponent is tired but flies away haphazardly with his last bits of energy while screeching in victory. You cannot chase him as you are losing too much blood from your missing limb. You crawl back to your fallen brother and [[collapse from exhaustion]].Many days have passed since your disgraceful defeat. Your food supply dwindles as your sworn enemy continues to wreak havoc without your interference. As you are no longer capable of defending your home, you decide to get the humans involved despite your mother's warnings. You irritate the humans enough that they send hunting parties into your domain. Despite even more casualties to the fauna, the dominating eagle still maintained control over your home. You escalate your attacks on the humans, so they result to slash-and-burn. You watch your once beautiful home burn as does your hated foe from your old nest. You have avenged your family, but you have paid the ultimate price. After scouting the region, your mother found your father's corpse. There are massive talon wounds around the neck. Your mother returns and relates the tragic news to you and your brother. She explains it was another eagle that had done this. He is always competing with your family, but it looks like things will change. You believe that [[your father's untimely death]] will lead to a shake up the in the food chain.Your mother has decided to teach you and your brother how to hunt for food and to fend for yourselves. (set: $awake to true)They must be your brothers. The nest you birds are in still has a lot of room despite the broken eggshells. Suddenly, [[two larger versions of you arrive.]]They are now awake just in time as your parents come back with more [[delicious mice]].You decide to keep the old nest in this oak tree as your permanent home while your brother decides to move to the mountains nearby. The two of you won't be too far from each other whenever something interesting will arise in your domain. The only threat left now is the humans, but you know they won't mess with you as long as you do the same. You take a deep breath and fully extend your wings. You let every single living creature within earshot that you have attained complete control of this ecosystem now. You can feel your parents proud gaze upon your back as you continue your long and victorious screech. You tell your brother that you will be leaving. This home of yours holds too many heartbreaking memories. You want to start fresh in another ecosystem. Even though he continues to watch the sunset, you can see the understanding in his eyes. He will stay as the solitary king then. You bid him farewell and fly off in the direction of the sunset. Maybe you will settle in another forest or just become a nomadic eagle. You acknowledge this sunset as the end of this story, but as the beginning for another.
