Another day of work and the temptation of (if:$days < 3)[[[taking a day off->taking a day off]]](if:$days > 2)[[taking a day off->final day]] is high, or I could decide to pull through, get ready and (if: $days is 0)[[[go to work->travel to work]]](if:$days is 1)[[[go to work -> go to work day 2]]](if:$days is 2)[[[got to work-> go to work day 3]]](if:$days > 2)[[go to work->final day]].
I decide to skip and (either: "binge some tv", "play some games", "sleep","read a book") for the rest of the day.

(set: $glutton to 0)I asked the child what was wrong,
"I wasn't able to see the birds this morning."
I was tempted to ask [[where her parents were]], but the [[birds]] also seemed like a curious thing to be crying over.Arriving to my seat early was a form of respect that I could show for the people in my courtroom. I was not above them, so I did not want to make them wait. I noticed the [[jury]] shuffling in and the tired eyes of the bailiff. We have grown accustomed to judging people that it becomes hard at times to realize we are having a huge impact on their lives. I waited a few more minutes and then [[slammed the gavel]] down to begin the trial. When I asked where her parents were she started crying more and ran off. A bit of a touchy subject I guess, I wonder why. Well, I should probably [[get to my seat]]."What birds are you talking about?"
she pulled out a picture from her pocket and showed it to me, "the seagulls on the beach!"
at least me asking about it seemed to cheer her up a little bit, and I felt bad leaving her, but I had to [[get to my seat]] before work started.
(set: $good to $good + 1)Arriving at my seat late let me feel like I held a position of power, and I did, but there aren't many perks to being a judge, making people wait can just be one of them. After sitting down, I [[slammed the gavel]] to begin. The jury wasn't anything special. No one I reconized, all already screened and unlucky enought to be picked. Or maybe lucky enough to have the freedom to have the say in what was going on around them. I guess it's time I [[slammed the gavel]] to begin though.
"It doesn't matter inside the Gates of Eden"About a few hours into the case, I was left to make the decision. What I knew about the defendant included:
-He was stealing from a convenience store
-On his way out, he hit and killed a pedestrian
-He swears that it was by accident, but then again, he was still stealing and breaking the law already, so what is one more guilty action
Overall, he definitly broke the law, but to what extent. Killing someone usually means life in prison, but was it by accident like he said? I can't decide if I should say he is [[guilty of murder]] or that it was an [[accident]] and go easy on him.As I slammed the gavel down I proclaimed, "guilty of murder." The bailif came and took the guilty away and once every had left, I got up to walk out. Sitting there was the same little girl as before, I wondered where her parents were, but as soon as the idea came into my mind it was gone and replaced by what I was planning on doing with the rest of my free time.

I am determined to make this day different.](else:)[The previous day left a good feeling in my mind. I was able to walk in someone elses shoes and I gave him a second chance. I just hope it wasn't a mistake, but all we can ever do is hope.] On my way into the courtroom I noticed a large mob of people holding signs and protesting something and I just hoped it wasn't for my case. I guess I could try and [[ask someone in the crowd]] about what was happening, or I could [[show up early]] for work.
(set: $days to $days + 1)This has felt like the most taxing few days of work that I have had in a while. Nothing seems to be exclusively good or exclusively bad.
After a long time of building the motivation to leave the house, I finally pulled myself out the door to be greated by a blast of frigid air.
This time, on my way to work I noticed someone getting robbed at gunpoint in an alleyway that I was passing by. I could go and [[try to help]], but I would surely get hurt or worse. The other option could be to let insurance cover it and [[not risk getting hurt]], but then that person might suffer because of it.
(set: $days to $days + 1)After a few minutes of trying to get someones attention and then a few more minutes of calming them down enough to talk, I finally had the opportunity to ask them what was happening. In a very loud voice, "I BELIEVE IN HIM! He helped me bring religion into my life and gave me money when I was desperate and now they are saying he is guilty?!"
Before the person could go on ranting any longer I decided to run into the courtroom and [[escape the unruly mob]].After parting the mob and making a path for me to cross, I raced up the stone steps to the courtroom and was greated by some peace. I called on the guards to disperse the mob, using force if necessary and continued on my way to my [[seat]].
(set: $evil to $evil + 1)After racing up the stairs to the courtroom, I had the option of sending the gaurds out to stop the crowd, but after speaking to them, I just felt they were confused and just as hurt by what their religous figure did as they are about the fact that he is on trial. After this realization, I decided to go to my [[seat]] and hopefully arrive on time. On my way to work, I noticed a homeless person with a cup out asking for change and I was left with the decision of showing up a [[[few minutes earlier to work-> go to work]]], or taking the time to [[give this person some change]], as the money itself wasn't an issue for me.I decided to give the person some change, hopefully it would be used to get some food and I wasn't just helping another adiction. After, I decided to continue on my way to [[[work-> go to work]]]

(set: $good to $good + 1)After taking my seat, I [[slammed my gaval down]] just as I did the day before and courtroom procedings started. This time I decided to take a more active role in the trial and decided to ask more questions than I did last time. I learned that this man is a religious figure who gives to his fellow religious followers, he provides a place for them to stay and helps his followers to find jobs. I also learned that he was stealing money from the donations that was supposed to be going to the poor people in the area for himself.
Ask:
[[1. ]]Why were you stealing the money?
[[2. ]]What were you doing with the money?
or I could go straight to [[the verdict]]"I felt I deserved it more than they did. I work hard to provide for my fellow followers, we are destined to go to a better place after we die anyway, so what does a little stolen money do anyways?"
[[[Ask another question->slammed my gaval down]]] "Does it matter what I was going to do with the money? People should care less about wordly possesions anyway. Besides, it probably just would've gone to feeding their addiction."
[[[Ask another question->slammed my gaval down]]]It was a tough decision, do I say he is [[guilty]] or just [[let him off the hook]]?I slammed my gaval down again, this time saying, "guilty."
With that, the bailif led the guilty out just like the day before.

Watching the man walk out free left an uneasy feeling in my stomach, I know people with power like that don't change that easily. I just hoped I wouldn't see him here again.

(live: 12s)[(if: time > 30s)(goto: "start")]I ran into the alleyway to be greated by the thiefs partner who, out of surprise, put a little too much pressure on the trigger and shot me. (set: $score to 0)I decided to keep walking and let the next person help.
After the rest of my walk being uneventful, I made my way up the courtroom stairs and [[took a seat]] at my stand. After taking my seat, I [[slammed the gaval]] down to begin and realized it was another judge who was being charged this time.I learned about the bribes that she was taking to let cases pass and in her defense, she was making some good arguments as to why it was deserved.
[[Question]]
[[Let it slide]][[First question]]: What were you hoping to accomplish
[[Second question]]: You used to be a good judge, what made you change?Letting it slide did not feel good morally, but I felt I had a new friend at least that could help me make a little more money.

(live: 10s)[(if: time > 30s)(goto: "start")]I decided to chose a simple question, "What were you hoping to accomplish by taking these bribes?"
"Don't you think that we deserve a little more? We have the weight of these peoples worlds weighing on our shoulders and we don't get any recognition for it!"
To some extent, she was right, but it still felt wrong to side with her on this matter. This would be a tough decision.
[[slam gaval]]I decided to go straight for the big question, "You used to be a good judge, what made you change?"
She responded with silence and I knew that she knew that she had done wrong.
[[slam gaval]]I had to make a decision and after the longest trial yet, it was finally up to me. I could say she is [[Guilty]] and do the right thing, or, I could [[Let it slide]] and get it over with, maybe making a new friend along the way. After some contemplation, I decided on, "Guilty!"
The bailif shuffled out with the defendant in his protection.
I wondered what could've been had I decided to let it slide, but there is no use worrying about it after the fact, so I did my best to push the thought away and headed home.
