Defenseless? Huh, [[I wonder...]]You enter the tavern. The room smells of spirits and a buff man is arm wrestling people in the back of the room. You approach the bar to see if they have any rooms.
"No coin, no service. Sorry, but those are the rules. Besides, even if you did all the rooms have been booked up for the festival.

While the festivities kick off you head toward the castle. There are a few guards stationed in (link: "front")[(goto: "Front")] of the castle but it's possible you could deal with them.
There may be fewer ways inside the castle if you go around (link: "back")[(goto: "Back")], but it seems like there aren't as many guards.Heading towards the front of the castle you take note of the few guards. Two guards look out from the towers up above. Another one paces in front of the entance.

At the bottom there is a grate but you can't pull it open because it's locked.

The guard seems unsure about you, but after some improvising the soldier manages to convince the guard that he was told to bring extra security.

You try and sneak past the guard yourself, but are unfortunately spotted.
Seems like you couldn't even make it into the castle. Luck was not on your side. Perhaps having someone with the proper skills could remove luck from the equation entirely.

You estimate that the festival is almost over and you won't have the chance to backtrack. It's no treasury, but it is a chance at finding some real loot.

You carefully try and aim some rocks you found on the ground at the lever. You expected it to be a challenge, but after a few throws you manage to hit the lever. What you didn't expect was the rock to richochet back and //hit// you right in the head.
Thankfully, the rock only knocked you unconcious. But unfortunately, during the time you were out the festival ended and the guards found your body during a sweep.
Let's hope you have better luck at your trial than you did on the heist.

You're so invested in the delicious flavors that you barely notice how much time passes. It isn't until the festival ends and the chef returns that he catches you rolling around in baked goods.
You expect him to call the guards but to your suprise he is overjoyed by your appreciation for his food. He offers you an apprenticeship which you willingly accept.
Maybe the heist didn't go the way you expected, but maybe the true heist was the friends you made along the way.

Instead of hiding you let the woman reach you. Maybe its your amnesia but there's something familiar about her you can't quite place.

"You know, with all the security here in town during the festival, the castle is fairly exposed. I'm an ex-soldier. I know my way around the castle. I admit...I've been thinking about taking advantage of the festival to break into the king's treasury. But I was hoping to team up with a partner first. Would you be interested?"
You take a moment to consider his offer. With all that gold there are no limits of what you could do. You could live like a $Royalty, help the poor, or buy passage to somewhere far far away.
It wouldn't be without risks though. One wrong move and you could find yourself thrown into the castle dungeons forever.
