First comes the blinding white light, then the colors, and then the stillness. At least that is what I see when I first awaken from what felt like a drowning sensation.
The side of your face grows numb from laying down on the cold concrete floor
[[Look around]]Without a second thought, I sprint as fast as I can through the dark pathway. I can't even see what's in front of me. I can be running off a cliff and I wouldn't even know it.
I breathe in the musky air around, causing me to cough uncontrollably.
Suddenly, I run head first into a gated door.
I fall to the ground. Dirt enters my eyes.
The intense pain, the dizziness. I can't think straight. The light beind me approches me. I grow mesmerized by the light.
As the taste of my own blood stains my lips, I slowly begin to drown in the waters of sleep.
The light draws closer, but then my eyes close like curtains on a high stage.
The last thing I hear is a gun being loaded.
ENDAs I travel farther down the hallway, I notice that I'm not stepping on the same concrete texture before. The ground has seem to be more and more unkempt the farther I go.
My steps grow louder as the gravel beneath my feet becomes more coaurse.
Suddenly, I also hear some voices from behind where I came from. They have torches lighting up the area and they are slowly approaching me like a lurking sea monster.
The cracks and pops from my steps on the gravel might attract their attention. The last thing I want is for them to catch me.
[[//Should start distance yourself but keep your steps as quiet as possible//->Walk]] or [[//should I try to get out of here as fast as I can?//->Run]]I decide to take my time, matching their pace with mine. I run my right hand along the cold walls of the hallway to help sustain my balance just in case I fall.
Suddenly, I don't feel the wall to my right any more. It looks like the hallway breaks up into another path.
I decide to take the turn, hoping that they simply go straight.
I travel down the new direction to find something at the end of the hallway. From a distance, it looks like a room with shelves of books.
A Library?
As I slowly approach the room, I take a quick glance behind me to find out that the ones with the torch has went on straight.
[[Enter the room]]I slow my steps to a whisper as I peek around the corner of the familiar hallway.
Although it is still dark, there is no trace of light. No footsteps can be heard from the group that I ran into just a second ago.
I still lay low, careful not to get caught by another search party that seem to roam around here often.
I regain my old path down the dark hallway. Each step on the gravel texture grows louder and louder.
Subconsciously, I hasten my pace only to run into a gated metal door.
There are some torches that are suspended off the walls that gives me enough ambient light to find that there is a lock on the door. Luckily, I take out the ring of keys that I found in the library.
After fumbling with some of the keys, I open the door which creaks open. I take a torch from the wall to light up the path ahead of me.
Continuing down the path, I run into another room with a grand old tree in the middle.
Suddenly, there are footsteps behind me from where I came from.
2, 3, 10, 20 people are approaching me right now.
I have to act fast, something to get me out of here.
Should I [[//drop the torch and attempt to climb the tree to hide//->Hide]] or [[//light up the whole tree//->Burn Everything]]I drop the torch and and quickly climb up the grand tree. My hands are sweaty from the panic. I slip and fall multiple times, shaking from the thought of what would happen if I get caught.
Finally, I manage to climb up the tree and hide myself from the army's march.
Shortly after, rows of soliders march forward in militant fashion. Their expressions are hard to make, but they all seem emotionless.
Without even questioning the random torch on the ground, they march forward toward another pathway that I didn't even notice before.
The stampede finally ends, and a sigh of relief is born on my breath, yet it dies on my lips.
Then, light begins to shine at the back of my head and I turn around to see an open window which leads to greener pastures.
Stunned, I carefully make my way out.
[[Escape]]Without much thought, I light up the tree with the torch in my hand. It takes a second for the fire to grow on the tree, but once the fire grew, it consumes the dead leaves like a monsterous bite.
The soliders come flooding into the seen, all stopping to see the spectacle of the burning grand tree. I stand away from the tree just to avoid getting burnt.
All of the soliders turn towards me, anger has painted their expression with a dark color.
I didn't really think this out.
They all chant, "You killed our king."
Like a firing squad, they all line up and load up their guns.
They point the sharp ends of the gun toward me.
--I'm out in a forest-like are with only the building that I've just escape from.
Now this is a story of survival. The sun is setting and I need a place to sleep
[[Find a body of water]]
[[Make a place to sleep]]I first circle around the building to find the ideal direction to head before heading off. I find a clean pathway I decide to follow it in hope of finding some water. I run into a fork in the road.
[[Go Left]]
[[Go Right]]I first distance myself from the castle before collecting a handful of sticks to build your makeshift tent. You then find a tent that seems to be abandoned.
[[Do you claim it as your own]]
[[find a different place to stay]]There is a faint rotten smell to the place, but the tent is expertly made with sticks and large leafs.
There is also a bucket, most likely used for storing water.
I still need to get some water and start a fire.
[[Try to start the fire first]]
(if: $fromPond is true)[[[//Find water first//->directly to water]]]
(else:)[[Find water first]]
I go along the path, but I slowly grow fatigue at all of the walking.
I didn't even realize that the sun has already set.
I have no other choice but to sleep without making the tent. But in the middle of the night, the wolves howl to the fullmoon. They catch a scent of me during my sleep.
The next thing I remember is being eaten alive.
ENDI find the body of water.
The place does have a nice atmosphere, maybe I should make my tent here
[[Make tent here]]
(set: $fromPond to true)
[[Find somewhere else to sleep]]I run into a little camp that has been abandoned before. But you're trying to find water so you continue on that direction.
[[//Continue//->find a different place to stay]]There are actually tools already here that are perfect for starting a fire.
I take the rope and wrap it around a stick once and then I begin to start the fire.
Somehow, I got the fire started.
I'm not particularly thirsty right now, but I think I should still get some water
(set: $fireStarted to true)
[[//Go search for water//->Find water first]]
[[Stay put and relax]]There is a path that might lead toward the water source. I follow it hoping that it's true, but I immediately hit a fork in the road.
[[//Go left//->Go left(2)]]
[[//Go right//->Go right(2)]]{
(set: $fromStart to true)
(set: $fireMade to false)
(set: $fromPond to false)
}I accidentally circle back to the building from where I came from. One of the guards spots me and recognizes me.
I run, but they all chase me. I grow exhausted, yet they continue without breaking a sweat.
They catch up to me and throw me back to the dungeon. My execution date is today.
ENDAs I try to sleep the night out, the fire I made grows suddenly and the tent catches on fire. Without any water, I'm not able to put out the fire.
The tent goes up in flames and it attracts too much attention from around.
The midnight sky consumes me and I'm left with no shelter. I try to sleep but the soliders from the building nearby must have been notified.
They capture me with no chance to escape. With some random sticks around and some leafs, I make a horrible looking shelter. It doesn't really have any support and even the smallest push of wind will destroy the structure.
Nonetheless, I have no other choices so I try to sleep in the tent.
Just as expected, the tent collapses on itself without minutes.
The wolves howl and they surround me slowly. Hungry eyes watch my every move.
They charge and I have no places to run.
The bites are painful as I slowly slip into unconsciousness.
ENDI quickly run into an abandoned camp that has a lot of supplies. It seems old, but it will do the job.
[[//Take the camp//->Do you claim it as your own]]
[[//Find another place//->find a different place to stay]]I luckily run into a body of water! I quickly fill the bucket with water and I retrace my steps
(if: $fireMade is true)[[[//Continue//->Continue]]]
(else:)[[[//Continue//->Made the fire]]]As I finally begin to sleep, the campfire I made grows too strong from the air around and my tent catches fire. With some quick thinking, I quickly put out the fire with the bucket of water I got recently.
I save the tent just in time and the tent is still standing and functional, but I do feel a bit unsafe.
Although it is midnight and finding things right now might be a little bit risky
[[Find things to help fix the shelther]]
[[Leave it be]]Finding new items around the area is quick. But during my search, I run into a noise in the bush.
The hair on the back of my head stands up, but I'm curious.
[[look in the bush]]
[[Ignore it and then return to your camp]]
The damage done by the fire doesn't look as concerning when I look at it again and so I just leave it be.
I then move the campfire a little bit farther away from me just in case.
[[//Continue//->Con2]]I carry the bucket of water back and then I begin working on starting the fire next.
There are tools here that I can use to create the fire. And with ease, I make the fire without much trouble.
[[Continue]]The night passes without much trouble and the sun rises. With the new daylight shining down, I notice a grove in the forest that people might have went through often.
After three or four hours of walking through the rough terrain, I finally find a small little town.
Everyone recognizes me and they all look happy to see me, yet I don't remember anyone.
Maybe I suffered from amnesia, but I'm glad that I'm back to where I belong.Entering the bright room, I quickly scan the area first before I walk further in.
Nothing comes to my immediate attention. I let out a long breath as if I held it in for a while.
Although the atmosphere here is relaxing, I still need to find a way out of this whole place.
On a table near me, a ring of keys lays abandoned. It looks like one of the guards here forgot to take it with them.
Taking the ring of keys, I try each and every one of the keys to see if they will fit and unchain my hands.
One specific key pops open the lock, freeing my arms. I rub my risk to clean of the dirt that accumulated and pocket the newly acquired keys.
I hide the handcuffs behind one of the tall bookshelves, hopeing that no one finds it anytime soon.
But as I stay here in the empty room, the same uneasy feeling attacks me. I feel like I'm being watched from somewhere, but I brush off any suspicions and continue on to find a way out of this dungeon-like maze.
The only path I can take is the one that I just came from so I have no other choice but to [[retrace my steps]].As I try to maintain my breathing, I look around the room to get an better sense of where I am. The room is dim, only lit up by the dull sunlight which leaks from the high opening above me. The walls remind me of a prison with cracks that run across the walls like lightning.
The inconsistency in your sight, the droning ring in the ears.
I try to stand up only to realize that my hands are cuffed together. With some awkward fumbles, I manage to get up on my feet and walk around aimlessly.
For some reason, a thought crosses my mind about why I'm even here in the first place. I was captured by enemy forces and now I'm just waiting to be executed.
My thoughts lack proper form. I don't really have any concrete memories or evidence that my assumption is true, but just that I need to get out of here at all cost.
Handcuffed, I notice a dark pathway to my right. The acidic air seem to have eatten away the metal gate.
Without much forethought, I enter the [[darken path]].Fearlessly, I look into the bush.
It was just a bunny...
[[return to camp]]Without skipping a heartbeat, I sprint back to my camp with the necessary supplies to fix my camp. After a couple of minutes, I look behind me just incase the thing that was in the bush.
[[Con2]]The cute little bunny follows me as I return to my camp. I feed it some berries I found around and it looks extremely happy.
The night passes and the bunny must have ran away during the night.
With the new daylight shining down, I notice a grove in the forest that people might have went through often.
After three or four hours of walking through the rough terrain, I finally find a small little town.
Everyone recognizes me and they all look happy to see me, yet I don't remember anyone.
Maybe I suffered from amnesia, but I'm glad that I'm back to where I belong.I remember where the pond I found early so I simply retrace my steps.
