This article addresses the controversial issue of sexual attraction of white gays to non-whites.  The "rice queen" phenomenon is looked at by an Asian American gay activist who discusses his relationships, how gays look at race and beauty.  The essay challenges the tendency by some Asians to seek the Great White Hope for sexual satisfaction.

Reviews existing state of sex data and their accessibility.  Improved data collection of sex sureys and AIDS data and access to them depends on sufficient funding, political support, public trust and researcher commitment.  Otherwise "sex on the racks will more likely be found in some sex club, not in a data archive."

In 2004, as Vietnam moves toward entry into the World Trade Organization, and its economic system becomes more mixed, social science research data can be expected to play an increasingly important role for scholars interested in understanding and analyzing Vietnamese society, as well as for policymakers within Vietnam and those in the United States and elsewhere.  This article addresses the social science data  situation in 2004 during the author's stay in Vietnam as a Fulbright Research Scholar.

On 7 January 2013, the UCI Libraries co-sponsored, with the Office of Research and the Office of Information Technology (OIT)  a "town hall" for faculty on e-research and research computing, in connection with the ongoing Faculty Assessment of the State of Research Computing (FASRC). This presentation focuses on research data management tools and services available via UCI Libraries.

Semi-subsistence farms that predominate in developing countries have more complex goals than the strict profit motives of corporate farms. Small farm management decisions are commonly based on a desire to increase production while avoiding risks and reducing labor demands and operating costs. Enterprise budgets are a valuable tool for understanding diverse farming systems and farmers' decision-making processes. The preparation of enterprise budgets documents production expenses, labor requirements, and specific activities related to pest control, as well as sources of supplies and technical information. By identifying what resources are commonly used and the relative importance of farm labor, the preparation of enterprise budgets facilitates the development of appropriate rodent control techniques and effective extension programs.

This article, a follow-up to one published in vol 1, no. 1 (1977), focuses on events in 1962 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where campus police continued its raids of tearooms on campus targeting homosexuals.
