A
study of the selection of health care providers for children revealed little systematic search activity among consumers for
this high involvement task. Differences were found between users of specialists, pediatricians, and generalists, family and general
practitioners. Reasons for the lack Of search activity and the presence of the specialist/generalist dichotomy are offered.
