This policy brief discusses the implications of the 2009 changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) to certified vendors. The changes reflect the newer U.S. dietary guidelines and include a higher variety of fresh foods. This brief examines how this will effects small, local vendors and gives recommendations for maintaining the vendor certifications and food availiablity in an economically unstable environment.
