Design / Build / Fly (DBF) is an annual and international remote controlled aircraft design competition that provides engineering students an opportunity to develop an aircraft that meets the competition requirements set by AIAA. This year’s competition requires teams to develop a short takeoff, carrier based aircraft with remotely folding wings and capable of carrying and releasing cargo. After analyzing the score analysis, our team determined that the highest scoring potential is to maximize the amount of stores carried while completing an equal number of laps within a 10 minute window. The team explored a wide range of options and finalized on an aircraft design that meets the given constraints while also excelling in mission performance. Our aircraft consists of a 75 in wingspan, an aspect ratio of 6.25, a maximum takeoff weight of 16 lbs, and a cargo capacity of 12 stores. Faculty Advisors: Professor Robert H.
