Analysis of how speech is the origination point for unconscious drive according both to Lacan and Freud. The chapter questions if speech/signifier/drive still motivate our creative lives or have these been taken over by capitalist modes of production?

Psychoanalysis is often disclaimed as non-scientific, since its main object – the unconscious – has no positive existence. This book, however, proposes psychoanalysis to be a “science of the signifier”. My chapter deals with the way Drive is being disrupted under our current economic conditions --Drive being what spurs us to creativity.
