“Growing Farmer” is about a 24 year old old Mexican immigrant who started his own small farming business at 18 in Salinas Valley. The sixteen and half minute film follows Octavio Garcia through the strawberry season. His struggle to make it as a farmer in Salinas Valley is contextualized by a secondary character, John D’Arrigo. D’Arrigo is large-scale farmer whose family has been farming since the early 1900’s.
