Reactor Analysis and Process Synthesis for a Class of Complex Sequential Reactions

Abstract

Russell and Bozelli, [Rus69], forty years ago developed analytical expressions for product distribution for a class of chemical reactions carried out in a plug flow or a continuously stirred tank reactor. Forty years later, we examine whether the synthesis problem they posed, of attainable product distribution by a single reactor, can be solved for reactor networks using newly developed techniques.
