Abstract

The insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE) has been identified as a type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer's disease susceptibility gene, though its physiological function remains unclear. Maianti et al. (2014) now propose that an IDE inhibitor may be a promising therapeutic strategy for type 2 diabetes. © 2014 Elsevier Inc.
