Abstract

This essay is a study of faunal remains from the archaeological site of Pusilhá, Toledo District, Belize. Based upon data collected by the Pusilhá Archaeological Project over five seasons of survey in the field, I argue that the remains of large game animals, especially deer, supports conclusions about social differentiation reached by Braswell and Volta and shows which areas may have been used for ceremonial functions
