Factors Impacting Communication Among Female and Male Police Officers in Canada
- Bannister, Sarah
- Advisor(s): Oselin, Sharon S
Abstract
Policing has long been an institution dominated by men and constructed in a way that favors masculinity. Women are increasingly moving up in rank within police agencies. How do men and women employed as police officers see women officers, female managers, and themselves? Canadian women in policing are found to do gender and policing simultaneously, while navigating a gendered institution and breaking barriers at work.
