Surface Plasmon Band Gap Sensor A new sensor for robust on-field biosensing (SEN 1)

Abstract

The experimental demonstration of a new sensor based on the properties of surface plasmon propagation through nanostructures is presented. This sensor is a sensitive and versatile device, since it is based on the changes in refractive index on a surface. The integration of the surface plasmon band gap sensor within a censor network would provide a versatile platform to obtain biochemical information with an unprecedented depth and granularity.
