A representation of space

Abstract

The spatial concepts: location, direction, orientation, space, distance, shape, and surface are discussed from a natural language processing perspective. Representations are proposed for all concepts except shape. A sample set of inferences that can be drawn from the representations are presented. Lastly, the interaction between the spatial domain and other knowledge domains is discussed.
