Rapid separation and determination of tryptophan, N-formylkynurenine, kynurenine, 3-hydroxykynurenine, 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, nicotinic acid, nicotinamide, trigonelline, kynurenic acid and xanthurenic acid from pea seedling using reverse-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography is described. Accuracy of the determinations was > 5%, and < 50 pmol of each metabolite could be measured reliably.
