Thomas-Fermi approximation to functional determinants in external gauge potentials
Abstract
The functional determinant and vacuum expectation value of a fermion field in an external gauge potential are evaluated in a Thomas-Fermi approximation. This approximation should be valid for slowly varying potentials. The expressions are readily transcribable to a lattice. We do not encounter the problem of doubling of fermionic degrees of freedom. © 1986 The American Physical Society.
