Abstract

The screenplay Seflove is the story of a slave girl destined to be queen who uses her royal talents and self-determination to be with the ones she loves. The stage Play Taken is the story of a black mother in the Jim Crow South who must take the law into her own hands to attempt to retrieve her child from white abductors.

Both stories take place in the state of Louisiana and are historical dramas. Taken is based on an actual event. Seflove uses magical realism to entertain family audiences with the history of African survivals in the United States.
