Systems, Capacity, and Infrastructure: Holistically Supporting Individuals and Organizations in Anti-Racist and Equitable Transformation

No data is associated with this publication.
Abstract

Uprooting racial injustice in education requires moving beyond changing individuals’ consciousness to shifting how school organizations operate. However, system-wide and organizational efforts to understand how to advance racial equity are relatively understudied. In this dissertation, I leveraged three separate research projects and focal areas to understand how individuals within and outside school systems build organizational supports and infrastructures to advance justice. These focal areas included a school, a district, and prior research on anti-racist professional development and learning. As such, I aim to provide insight on processes of change within schools and within districts as well as understand how to improve professional learning contexts to support them in justice work.
