This article had as objective to analyze the correlation between the economic development of the municipal districts paranaenses and the incidence of violent crimes, presupposing that when the first factor increase the second factor decreases. After the construction of an Index of Economic Social Development (IDS) for each municipal district paranaense, and done the correlation analysis with the violent crime, the result was -0,06. This implies that the violent crimes tend to drop when the IDS increases, although this correlation is considered very weak, because it verified a low coefficient.
