Abstract
At the center of this research brief is the Open Insulin Project (OIP), a group of activist scientists in a community biology lab in Oakland, California. Founded by a type 1 diabetic and driven by volunteers, OIP has responded to the insulin crisis by attempting to produce an open source version of insulin.
