This project seeks to add to the conversation regarding aesthetic disciplines, in particular art, and how they shape and inform social relations. Drawing from historical precedents and formal metaphors, I seek to illuminate how art is used to make the societies that accommodate them appear more creative and free. As an artist, I am primarily concerned with how my work engages with these concepts and my historical predecessors. Beginning with the Congress for Cultural Freedom and ending with my own practice, I will explore how my thoughts on art and society coalesce.
