Abstract
On November 6, 2014, cultural researcher Sue Mark (marksearch) and urban planner/design researcher Anisha Gade (City Planning and Architecture) engaged in a reflective conversation about creative place-making efforts that can influence, empower, and inform community identity during periods of gentrification. They discussed their interdisciplinary project, Communities’ Crossing, which will create historically- and culturally-informed interventions along San Pablo Avenue in the area where Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland intersect.
This talk was part of the Reading Cities, Sensing Cities colloquium presented by the Global Urban Humanities Initiative at UC Berkeley.
