The Atlantic Forest, a global biodiversity hotspot, faces severe threats due to land use and climate change. Understanding its ecosystem dynamics and resilience is crucial but hindered by the lack of integrated long-term data, limiting the development of effective conservation and adaptation policies. Currently, research efforts are fragmented and cover a minimal fraction of the biome. Collaborative research that integrates existing long-term monitoring initiatives under common standards and supports new efforts toward this goal is pivotal. The Atlantic Forest Monitoring Network (Rede DAMA – Dinâmica Ambiental da Mata Atlântica), a recently established initiative, brings together scientists working across the biome to harmonize methods, share knowledge and data, and strengthen collective capacity. Networks such as Rede DAMA are fundamental to integrate robust data, inform science-based adaptation strategies, guide large-scale restoration, and support global climate commitments. This coordinated action is vital to safeguard one of the world's most threatened ecosystems and to promote sustainable development.
