I am sitting here drinking vodka and dragon fruit flavored Vitamin Water. I’m trying to figure out how to respectfully play my dead grandpa in a film. How do I embody this deceased old man who was loved and gossiped about and deeply troubled? My memories of this man were forged through the perspective of my younger self and have been warped over time. Should we even attempt to portray our dead loved ones? Is it possible to do his character justice or is it just plain rude? After all, he isn’t here to defend himself.
