This paper describes the activities which foster competition but are not related to the analysis of mergers or the repression of anticompetitive conducts. In particular, this paper demonstrates that the evaluation of regulatory rules is paramount to the maintenance of a healthy competition environment, by stating that the Economic Analysis of the Law should be a viable instrument to justify the intervention by competition governmental bodies and, consequently, the removal of anticompetitive regulation. To reinforce such statement, this paper exemplifies with the removal of price regulation from the driving schools market in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
