Global Perspectives in Contemporary Art is a required academic seminar in the Department of Art Practice that asks undergraduate students to consider the following central questions: What do we mean when we speak of the "art world?" What does it mean to think and act "globally?" How do current events and international politics shape contemporary art and the discourse surrounding it? To what extent does social media impact global public dialog -- and what is the role of art in shaping this discourse?
