About
The UCLA Latin American Center (LAC) is a major regional, national, and international resource on Latin America and hemispheric issues. Since its formal establishment in 1959, the Center has supported the training of area specialists, fostered research on the region, and disseminated scholarly advances to regional, national and international audiences through conferences, workshops, public programs, teacher training, and an extensive publications program. Together with the Latin American Studies Inter-Departmental Program (LAS-IDP), the LAC, a Title VI National Resource Center (NRC), equips new generations of leaders with the information, perspectives and skills required for understanding the complexities of Latin American societies, and enhances knowledge of Latin America in Los Angeles, the state of California, and the United States as a whole.
