The Kadish Center for Morality, Law, and Public Affairs was conceived and endowed by Sanford and June Kadish in January 2000. The Kadish Center seeks to promote research and reflection on moral philosophical issues in law and public life, with special emphasis on the criminal law's substantive aspects.

The Kadish Center pursues its objectives in three ways. First, the center sponsors formal lectures (and may fund small research conferences) to foster greater understanding among academic audiences and the wider public. Second, the center supplies research support for graduate students in the Jurisprudence and Social Policy Program and may in time help defray the cost of academic visitors to Berkeley. Third, the center organizes a workshop for law, philosophy, and political theory. Prominent scholars from around the country are invited to present their work in the seminar.
