This Master's thesis is a document that accompanies my Master's violin recital which took place on October 3, 2009 at the University of California, San Diego. This recital consists of Piece Pour Ivry, per violino by Bruno Maderna, Sonata in C Major by J. S. Bach, Chorals for Solo Violin by John Cage, and Phantasy for Violin and Piano Accompaniment by Arnold Schoenberg. This thesis consists of four short paragraphs introducing each work to the listener. A recording of this performance is on file at the Geisel Special Collections Library.
