The Oakland EcoBlock Phase 2: A Zero Net Energy, Low Water-Use Retrofit Neighborhood Demonstration Project (poster presented at the CEC EPRI Electrification Summit 2026)

Abstract

This poster describes the EcoBlock pilot project, which proposed block-level energy retrofit, including energy and water efficiency, fuel switching away from fossil fuels to electricity, and rooftop solar PV. The project leverages economies of scale and the neighbor-to-neighbor conversations to address affordability as well as recruiting hard to reach customers.

The poster describe activities, the milestones achieved to date, the challenges, the lessons learned, and the City of Oakland policy lessons for neighborhood-scale decarbonization
