Collaborating during the conflict: Rushing to Save Ukrainian Government Information
Abstract
The aim of this presentation is to explore the themes of resilience and collaboration in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Specifically, it examines how librarians from different continents united in their efforts to preserve government information from Ukraine that was publicly available on the web. This presentation delves into a collaborative initiative undertaken in response to the imminent threat to Ukrainian state records, demonstrating the effective use of web archiving by integrating existing platforms such as the Internet Archive. It also reflects on lessons learned from this endeavor and discusses how the collaboration persisted despite differing perspectives on prioritization and preservation selection criteria.
