Designing library websites for diverse academic communities involves balancing competing user needs and institutional priorities. This article examines the 2017 UC San Diego Library website redesign, which prioritized diversity and inclusion as core UX principles. Using user research, personas, and audience prioritization, the project applied the “Middle Way” philosophy and progressive enhancement to balance accessibility, usability, and representation. Visual inclusion was emphasized through images reflecting the university’s racial and ethnic diversity. The case study shows that inclusive UX is achievable through reflective practice and equitable design decisions.
