Inequality and Equity, Overview

Abstract

The purpose of the meeting was to identify ways in which the Center for Spatially Integrated Social Science could better achieve its goal of supporting the development and dissemination of spatial theories, tools, concepts and techniquesin the social sciences, with reference to studying and addressing problems of social inequality and equity. The meeting of scholars took place in Santa Barbara, CA, November 12-14, 2000. The conceptual issues addressed included incorporating temporal considerations into spatial analysis, data problems in spatial approaches to social science, and problems realted to data access, statistical analysis, and visualization.
