A 33 year old male with AIDS was admitted to the hospital for evaluation and treatment after an outpatient blood culture revealed Cryptococcus neoformans. Clinically, the patient exhibited multiple, hyperpigmented, indurated plaques and nodules with significant facial edema. Two skin biopsies showed coexistent cryptococcus, confirmed by culture and stains, and Kaposi¹s sarcoma. A review of this simultaneous occurrence will be presented with regard to pathogenesis and treatment.
