Aims and Scope

MELA Notes is a distinguished journal dedicated to the study and dissemination of knowledge related to Middle Eastern Librarianship and scholarship. Our mission is to foster a deeper understanding of the Middle East through the curation and promotion of high-quality research, innovative practices, and insightful discussions.

Aims:

Promote Scholarly Research: To provide a platform for the publication of rigorous and original research that advances the field of Middle Eastern studies and librarianship.

Facilitate Knowledge Exchange: To create a forum for scholars, librarians, and practitioners to share insights, methodologies, and best practices, thereby fostering a vibrant and collaborative academic community.

Enhance Accessibility: To ensure that the journal’s content is widely accessible through our open access model on eScholarship, as well as through traditional print and electronic formats.

Support Academic Excellence: To uphold the highest standards of peer review and editorial quality, ensuring that each published work contributes significantly to the existing body of knowledge.

Scope:

MELA Notes welcomes submissions that cover a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:

Middle Eastern Librarianship: Innovations, challenges, and case studies related to the management and curation of Middle Eastern collections in libraries.

Middle Eastern Studies: Interdisciplinary research that connects Middle Eastern studies with other academic fields such as history, literature, political science, and anthropology, and addresses contemporary issues and developments within the region.

Bibliographic Studies: Research on bibliographies, cataloging, and classification systems pertinent to Middle Eastern resources.

Manuscript Studies: Analysis and interpretation of Middle Eastern manuscripts, including their history, preservation, and digitization.

Digital Humanities: The application of digital tools and methods to Middle Eastern studies, including digital archives, databases, and other resources.

Information Science: The intersection of information science and Middle Eastern studies, including data management, information retrieval, and user behavior.

Cultural Heritage: Studies on the preservation and dissemination of Middle Eastern cultural heritage, including museums, archives, and heritage sites.

We encourage submissions from scholars, librarians, and practitioners engaged in studying the Middle East, and we are committed to publishing work that reflects diverse perspectives and methodologies. Through our publication, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing dialogue and development within this dynamic field.
