About Center for Hydrometeorology and Remote Sensing
The Center for Hydrometeorology and Remote Sensing (CHRS) is an informal interdisciplinary group. The Center brings together faculty and researchers from the Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth System Science in the University of California, Irvine. Our group conducts research aiming to advance the knowledge of the water and energy cycles at scales ranging from local watersheds to continental basins. Our main focus is land-surface hydrologic processes, their spatial and temporal variability, and the use of remote sensing information and computer models to improve both our understanding of these processes and our ability to model them in order to predict the impacts natural and anthropogenic variabilities on water resources. The majority of CHRS research activities are funded by NASA, NOAA, and NSF.
