This paper discusses the harmful and fatal use of non-human animals in research. It argues and demonstrates that such use can be scientifically invalid if the results are applied to humans. Alternatives to such use are discussed in the context of being more defensible morally and scientifically. It calls for a change in attitude in order to institute available alternatives and develop others.

This paper discusses the use of castration as a means of population control for non-human primates where other means may be inefficient, ineffective or otherwise problematic. It is anecdotal in nature, using my experience and some reference to scientific studies for support.

This paper discusses the claim that the use of non-human animals in amblyopia research has led to our understanding and treatment of this condition. It is shown that such use was not important, that our understanding was based on human experience and that the non-human animal research confused some aspects of the situation.
