Policies for Submissions

Who Can Submit

The Xlab at the University of California, Berkeley, welcomes submissions of working papers from faculty, graduate students, and associated investigators. Working papers can cover all aspects of Xlab issues: methodology, trial setup, technical issues, survey design, human subjects, etc.

If you would like to add a paper to the Xlab series or have further questions, please contact the IBER editor, iber@haas.berkeley.edu, or Professor Tek Ho, the Director of the Xlab, hoteck@haas.berkeley.edu. (Papers should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format, with abstract, keywords, JEL Codes where applicable, and faculty affiliation and email included.)

Removal

A paper may be updated or removed from public view by sending a request to the iber@haas.berkeley.edu. However, a citation to the original version of the paper will always remain on the site.

Author Review

Authors normally have a brief interval in which to review a preliminary posting of their papers, not more than 5 days. After that stage, we will not make any changes in the paper beyond the rare error that occurs in PDF conversion.

Rights and Permissions

Before submitting a paper to the repository, please be sure that all necessary permissions have been cleared. You retain the copyright to your paper and grant us the nonexclusive right to publish this material, meaning that you may also publish it elsewhere. Authors who are considering publication in journals should determine whether appearance of 'prior work' in this series jeopardizes consideration of publication.

It is necessary that you agree to the terms of publishing in the repository listed in the author agreement in order to post a paper.

The author gives the Repository non-exclusive rights to post the paper and keep a citation of it in perpetuity. The Xlab requires a signed copy of this agreement from each author. Authors may sign a blanket authorization for multiple papers.

The signed, hardcopy author agreement should be mailed to us at the address on the indicated on the form.
