Today, the concept of the life cycle of a dataset or research project has entered the digital curation lexicon, yet little literature exists on research data management within Asia.  This paper surveys the landscape of research data archiving in Asia, focusing on social science data archives in the region and looks at future prospects for collaboration and expansion as digital libraries are confronting the prospect of archiving and providing access to research data.
