THE ARTPOSIUM EXPERIENCE: ORGANIZING AN INTEGRATIVE ART CONFERENCE

Abstract

This Capstone project presents the development and execution of The ArtPosium, an in- person art conference and exhibit designed to link emerging artists to local professionals. This project was created in response to the challenges artists face when entering the art community, including anxiety, a lack of networks, and high barriers to professional growth. The ArtPosium combined elements of a symposium and a conference to promote exposure to art and networking. The planning involved branding, social media marketing, and extensive community outreach to recruit presenters, exhibitors, and local art organizations. The ArtPosium exceeded initial expectations, drawing approximately 200 attendees in total, including 26 exhibitors, 12 presenters, 12 volunteers, 12 participating organizations, and 67 mixed-media art pieces. The feedback from participants emphasized the quality of the event and the value of networking opportunities, increased exposure, and a supportive social environment. Overall, this project demonstrates marketing efforts to showcase the effectiveness of a community-centered in-person event in fostering artistic connection, confidence, and professional development.
