The Team contains the first four chapters of a young adult novel in progress. After a house party, a student, Colin Turner, supposedly dies of alcohol poisoning. However, following further inspection, the police suspect foul play and decide to investigate the incident as a homicide. This murder mystery trails four female college ultimate frisbee teammates, Birdee, Sloan, Cookie, and Trix, as they attempt to cope with the death of their fellow student and their potential involvement in his death. Although the girls are wrongly suspected of murder themselves, when it seems they may have been among the last to see Colin alive, they feel obligated to discover the truth of what happened that night. The plot explores the concepts of guilt and culpability, while simultaneously playing with the concept of the team dynamic through the shifting of character perspectives with each chapter.
