Music Man Murray

Abstract

Music Man Murray is an intimate portrait of a man who built one of the world’s largest collections of vinyl at the hour he is letting it go.

Murray Gershenz, 88, is struggling to find a buyer for the half-million records in his L.A. rare-record store. Murray’s son, the emotional Irv, clings to the store, truly believing there is no separation between the records and his father. Meanwhile, some surprises are in store as Murray hears a late-life calling in Hollywood.

This twenty-minute documentary portrait sounds the death knell for analog technology while telling a classic story of the regeneration of an American original.
