Submission Guidelines

All submissions must be previously unpublished and original material. Collaborative works are accepted for submission

Submissions: Submissions must be in Microsoft Word Format (.doc or .docx). Contact us at lasc.journal.uci@gmail.com with any questions.

Cover Page: Authors must include their names, titles, institutions, mailing addresses, contact numbers, and email address on a separate document. Authors’ names and institutions and any clues to the author’s identity should be excluded from the rest of the document.

Biography: All contributing authors should submit a separate, 30-50 word biography including affiliations, titles, etc.

Copyright: The author is responsible for obtaining permission for any copyrighted material used in an article. We require signed permission from the copyright holder if quoted material exceeds the amount allowed under the “fair use” provisions of copyright law.

Languages: Submissions accepted in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

References: Citations should follow the American Psychological Association (APA), the Modern Language Association (MLA), or the Chicago Manual of Style. All notes, regardless of style, should be inserted as endnotes in the Microsoft Word Processor.

Images: Please submit all images in JPEG (.jpg) format within the text of the submission and as a separate file. Please submit the separate file to lasc.journal.uci@gmail.com

Book Reviews: Reviews of single monographs should be three to four double-spaced pages. Exceptions will be made for authors interested in reviewing multiple related works in a review essay format.

Creative Writing: We accept creative writing in the form of short stories, essays, and narratives that relate to the topic of the current issue. Please submit one creative writing piece per author and no more than 25 double-spaced pages.

Research Papers: Manuscript, including all references, tables, and figures should be at least 15 double-spaced pages, but should not exceed 25 pages. Authors should keep tables within the body of the text. Authors should include an abstract describing the essence of the manuscript in no more than 200 words and a list of key terms on a separate double-spaced document. Please limit submissions to one per author.

Review Process: Submissions will undergo double-blind review, so they should not contain any information that indicates the identity of their creators. The Co-managing editors will make final determination of publication after review editors submit their commentary. The entire review process will take 10-12 weeks. If contributing authors are asked to make revisions based on review editor’s comments, they must submit either revisions or rationales for not revising within 2 weeks.
