PowerUp is a conference focused on the future of electric power systems and the technologies that support them. Our motivation is two-fold. First, we want to establish an independent, affordable, and regular research-oriented power systems conference for academic exchange in North America. Second, we want to ensure a high-quality author experience through a robust, double anonymous review process that prioritizes transparency and accountability at every stage and from all parties involved, i.e., authors and reviewers. In response to the community's need, PowerUp aims to offer a clear, fair, and open platform for researchers and engineers to share their ideas.

The conference features a single-track format, designed to keep our focus on high-quality content and encourage thoughtful interaction among participants. In that spirit, we will welcome two types of submissions - full papers and notes papers. Both types of papers will be peer reviewed in a double-blind manner. Additionally, for both types of papers, we will take additional steps to prioritize the quality of feedback: we will post the reviews and names of the reviewers for all accepted papers, unless a reviewer opts out of releasing their name during the review process. All papers will be archived on the conference webpage, and we will take steps to ensure the papers are indexed in Google Scholar. Authors will retain copyrights to their papers and are encouraged to disseminate their work broadly, e.g., through submission to arXiv and/or via their personal webpages. Our hope is that the conference will provide authors with constructive feedback on their "best work," which they might use to turn their conference paper into a journal submission after the conference.

In particular, PowerUp focuses on:

• Novel, breakthrough ideas that don't fit the "standard" template. We encourage out-of-the-box ideas and papers that help readers think about topics in a new light.
  
• Constructive and substantive reviewer feedback.
  
• Excellence in presentation quality and audience engagement.
  
• Open discussion that is welcoming and respectful of everyone, including researchers that have recently entered the field.
