We wish for PowerUp to provide an intellectually stimulating, supportive, and inclusive environment, which fosters the next generations of power system leaders. Our values and community foundations, reflect our aspirations and the expectations we have of one another as a community. We aim to continuously reflect on these values and foundations and update this document as our community evolves.

Participants agree to…

• Come to learn, teach, and share — not to "show off". We expect presenters to explain the foundations of their work and promote engagement by making their presentations accessible to the broader power systems community, e.g. by explaining jargon and favoring clarity over superfluous mathematical formalism.
  
• Actively listen, reflect, and engage. We value respectful curiosity, open discussions and debate, and constructive feedback.
  
• Be open-minded, act with empathy, and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. We encourage honest — and sometimes uncomfortable — questions. It is acceptable to respectfully question someone's results; we are all fallible. What matters most is not the mistake itself but how it is raised and received. We aim to learn from mistakes, and we are willing to revise our views in light of new evidence.
  
• Make space for others. We know when it is time to sit back and listen, and we act as active bystanders when inappropriate behavior arises.
