Ethics Statement

We aim to promote an inclusive, mindful, and comfortable environment for students to ask for assistance and include their insights and perspectives on the Ancient Mediterranean. In addition to this, as submissions are collected, editors will flag any that are harmful/hateful and/or against the journal’s guidelines and beliefs. Peer reviewers volunteer during the call for editors and are trained by the Editor-in-Chief (s) (EiC) and the Deputy Editor-in-Chief (DEiC). Tentatively, each submission will go to 1-2 peer editors/reviewers and then, before publication, will go before the executive board. Each submission is a blind submission to prevent any discrimination or conflict of interest. If an editor submits, they will not be assigned their work for editing and will also do so blindly. Before submissions are published, authors will provide their preferred name and school so that they retain their intellectual property. Editors are expected to be diligent, prompt, and present for training and deadlines to ensure each member of the submission process has ample time and feedback to ensure their piece can be the best possible. If a piece comes up for review under the belief that it is harmful, the executive board will meet to discuss the submission and the best course of action. The piece will remain blind until a decision is made to remove bias on account of the author. The author will then be informed of the decision. If they believe it to be unjust, they can appeal to the journal faculty advisor or present a case to defend their work.
